When is the best age to have my baby photographed?

There isn’t a ‘best time’ as such - you’ll find your baby will change so much, so quickly and every age and milestone is special. For newborn babies, I do suggest they are photographed within the first two weeks of birth as this is when they are at their tiniest and often most settled.

Do you have a studio?

I only shoot on location: your home or somewhere you love to spend time as family. That could be your favourite park. I want to capture real memories for your family in meaningful settings.

What should we do to prepare for the photo shoot?

My biggest tip in preparing for a photo shoot is to relax. The less pressure you put on yourself, and your family, to get ‘perfect shots’ - the more likely we are to get them. I will send you plenty of information before the shoot with tips on how to prepare and we will also have a chat or meet up to go through any question and ideas that you have.

What shall we wear?

It’s so important to be yourself so don’t feel like you have to dress up for the occasion. I do recommend that you think about the colours of your family’s clothes and how they work with simple backgrounds we are shooting against. A good and simple rule is to coordinate but not match. For young babies I prefer simple items like vest but for toddlers and older children, feel free to play around with patterns, laters and accessories like hats. There will be more tips for what to wear in my pre-session guide and we will also have time on the day to talk through wardrobe ideas.

How shall I deal with feeling camera shy?

Pleas do not worry if you, your partner or your children are camera shy. It is totally normal - I even feel the same way myself. I will spend some time getting to know you all better before I pull out my camera, and it will feel more like a play date with a friend, rather than a formal photo shoot. You won’t even have to look at the camera if you don't’ want to. I want capture natural and authentic moments, so just focus on having fun with your family and i will capture it all as it happens.

How long will the photo shoot last?

Most session take about 90 minutes - although I don’t work to a strict time limit.

What do we do if the weather is bad?

In the lead up to your shoot, I will keep a close eye on the weather forecast. If it looks to be wet, we have a few options.

  1. Change the location to your home and stay warm and dry indoors.
  2. Make a feature of it - think welly boots and jumping in puddles!
  3. If you really want shots outside, but the weather is very bad, I am more than happy to re-schedule for another date (please note this is subject to my availability)

Please do not worry if the day turns our grey and cloudy, overcast skies produce beautiful soft light which is very flattering.

How do we choose what photos we’d like?

Approximately a week after your shoot, I will send you a link to your private online proofing gallery for your own pleasure viewing. Your gallery will be live for a week for you to decide which photographs you would like to purchase or print.

Will the photographs be in colour or black and white?

The photographs in your gallery will be both of colour and black and white. You decide which works best for each particular shot.

What camera do you use?

I use professional digital SLR cameras and premium lenses by Canon. These are highly capable for portraits as they are well renowned for theirquick focusing systems, ideal for catching those important moments! I always have a spare camera in case one breaks down during the session.

What albums do you supply?

Photo albums are from USA manufacturer. They are hand finished, have edge to edge printing and open out flat to allow images to be spread right across two pages with no loss of the image in the centre crease.

Can we see the album design before it goes to print?

Yes, I will put a design together using your favourite chosen images and then send an electronic copy of the page layouts. I want your album to be as perfect as possible and to your exact specifications before going to print.

How long will our album take to arrive?

All of my albums are made in USA, so once you have signed off the design, depending on the album chosen, it will take up to 5 weeks for it to be delivered.

What happens it we cancel or want to change the date of our session?

If rescheduling is necessary, your booking fee can be transferred to your selected date and no fees will be applied.
